Introduction to Security Risk Management at Cultural Venues Training

On Tuesday 21st February 2023, the team travelled to Epworth to visit The Old Rectorary and deliver our CPD Certified programme – Introduction to Security Risk Management at Cultural Venues for the team at Museums Development Yorkshire.

Delegates ranged from curators, volunteers and directors at cultural venues across the Yorkshire region. They took this opportunity to understand the types of threats that cultural venues face and how to proactively prevent them from escalating and resulting in serious damage or danger.

This programme provides delegates with knowledge, skills and advice that can be taken away and later applied to the responsibilities they carry out at their cultural venue. The following programme elements are covered:

  • Understanding Threats to the Cultural and Heritage Sector
  • The Attack Cycle
  • Introduction to Risk Assessing
  • Understanding Security in Depth
  • Identifying and Assessing Vulnerabilities
  • Introducing Effective Security Operations
  • Education and Training

During our cultural protection programmes, we like to give delegates the chance to put their new knowledge into practice by conducting a walk-through of the venue and applying their new risk management knowledge to what vulnerabilities or risks might be likely to affect the venue’s operations or staff/visitor safety.

Once again, the feedback we received was extremely positive and confirms that cultural protection programmes are needed in the sector and that Trident Manor Training Academy can provide a beneficial and interactive programme suitable for anyone interested in, or working in, the cultural sector. We would like to thank Museums Development Yorkshire for choosing us to deliver one of our CPD Certified programmes and we hope to collaborate with them again in the near future.
